Donald Trump needs money for his election campaign

The myth that Donald trump He is a great businessman who knows how to handle money well and has been refuted on several occasions. He kept his real estate empire alive with the millions he received from his father. Later he pushed several companies to the wall. Time and time again, Trump was short of money over the course of his career.

Even now, in the election campaign, Trump may run into a cash flow problem. In reality, his campaign fund was always full of donations, but now it turns out that his team has wasted a good $ 800 million in recent months. The money was used, among other things, for television advertising, employee travel and party convention planning.

Brat Parscale, the president’s former campaign leader, raised the money as a “drunken sailor,” writes the New York Times. The president’s allies in the party are alarmed. According to US media reports, Trump should consider adding a good $ 100 million to his personal fortune.

Trump’s challenger Joe biden Meanwhile, he breaks records for donation income. In August alone, he made $ 365 million, more than any other U.S. presidential candidate before him.

Possible money problems are denied on Trump’s team. Trump himself said that a lot of money had to be spent on advertising in recent months to counter “fake news.” He is also willing to inject money from his own pocket. But there is still a lot of money left, Trump said. “Much more than in 2016”.

Really? The pleading emails that Trump’s team is sending out in droves to potential donors don’t exactly look like everything is in order with the box. “Please pay a contribution,” Trump wrote to his supporters, almost pleading. “Do not leave me!”

Hit the road, Joe

The US election campaign is entering a new phase: Despite the crown crisis, both Donald Trump and Biden are now getting out into the country more, socializing.

Counterparts choose different approaches. Trump is trying to revive his old massive events. To this end, it usually gathers a few hundred fans at the airfields. Joe Biden has smaller meetings, with a few dozen followers at most. The Democrat maintains minimum distances and rarely removes the protection of his mouth and nose.

For Biden in particular, the increase in travel activity is a big step, yes, even a change in strategy. While Trump has never completely given up on short trips to the country in recent months, the challenger stayed home most of the time.

He only communicated with the outside world via video calls, also to minimize the risk of infection for himself. Biden didn’t have to do much either: It was enough for him to see Trump make mistake after mistake in the fight against the pandemic.

Voting contest

Obviously they recognized on Biden’s side that this reluctance could no longer be enough in the final phase of the electoral campaign. Biden is currently demonstrating in exactly those “battlefield states” that he has to win if he wants to beat Trump: Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin. Meet trade unionists, give interviews to local media and deliver speeches on site.

At the same time, Trump also travels there. It is an almost curious race to watch. When Trump performs in Pennsylvania, Biden will be there the next day. If Biden travels to Michigan, Trump shows up shortly after. If Biden’s runner-up Kamala Harris is in Wisconsin, Trump’s runner-up Mike Pence will stop by.

Today’s grueling display in the North and Midwest dates back to the 2016 election campaign: Hillary Clinton had neglected the old Democratic strongholds of Wisconsin and Michigan. You practically didn’t show up there. Trump, on the other hand, was often there. So I could win there. Obviously, Biden doesn’t want to repeat this mistake this time.

That’s what the polls say

Donald Trump was able to close the gap to Joe Biden at the polls after the Republican party conference. His earnings, so far at least, aren’t strong enough to catch up with Biden.

There have been a good dozen polls since the party conference, all of which continue to see Biden ahead of Trump. In June, Biden was 10 percentage points ahead of the incumbent, now averaging 7.1 percentage points in all RealClearPolitics national polls. Biden comes in at 49.9 percent, Trump at 42.8 percent.

For comparison: Hillary Clinton was just 2.1 percentage points ahead of Trump in 2016 at the same time.

Even in particularly contested states, Biden continues to lead. However, the gap with Trump is sometimes small here. In Wisconsin and Arizona Biden is 5 percentage points ahead of Trump, in Michigan there are still 2.6 percentage points and in Pennsylvania 3.9 percentage points. In Florida Biden’s lead is just 1.2 percentage points, in North Carolina 0.6 percentage points.

There is an interesting trend in the state. Ohio, which is also part of the “rust belt” in the north. There, Biden is now an average of 4 percentage points ahead of Trump. Here the Democrat could improve. To Trump’s chagrin, strategists on the president’s side had long assumed that Ohio would be a safe bet for them. Now they have to fight to keep the old bastion.

This is important: the state delivers 18 of the total 270 electoral votes it needs for overall victory. That’s more than Wisconsin (10) and Michigan (16) and almost as many as Pennsylvania (20 votes).

Bankruptcy Election Campaign of the Week …

…is he Boat parade for Donald Trump in Texas, in which five boats capsized last weekend. Since then, fans of the president, whose boats landed on the bottom of a lake, have had to endure a lot of taunting. The drop is a symbol of the state of the entire Trump election campaign, according to Democrats.

The fact is, the ships in Trump’s fleet were not sunk by a storm, but there were simply too many inexperienced amateur captains on the way. The wrong maneuvers created dangerous waves that capsized smaller boats. Then the Trump fans practically sank, thankfully no one was hurt.

Another aspect faded into the background in excitement: Donald Trump likes to be celebrated as the little man’s hero. In the various parades of boats for the president seen in this election campaign in Texas, Florida or on the Great Lakes in the northern United States, the charm of the working class is not so much felt.

Here, wealthy white Americans are more likely to be on their way for president – many of the sports boats or yachts are recognizable by their expensive engines, leather seats, and high-tech. So you can guess where parts of Trump’s tax giving have gone.
