As of tomorrow, Tuesday, the renovation works of the conduction tunnel between the Pongau junction and the Eben junction on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) motorway will begin. Until June 2021, there will be oncoming traffic in the 400-meter-long tunnel.

The investments amount to a total of nine million euros, Asfinag announced in a press release on Monday.

First phase of construction at the end of the year

During the first construction phase, the works of the Villach road will be carried out. Therefore, until December this year, the traffic will circulate in the opposite direction (one lane in each direction) through the metro on the Salzburg lane. Asfinag updates electrical safety technology, such as lighting, control systems, radio systems and portal visors, as well as the tunnel rails and their inner layer.

80 km / h speed limit in the driving tunnel

At the end of December this year, a two-way traffic guide was installed in the Salzburg rail tunnel. There will be a winter break in the work until the end of February 2021. Thereafter, drivers must be prepared for the oncoming traffic in the Villach lane tunnel until June 2021. During this construction phase, it applies a maximum speed limit of 80 km / h in the tunnel.
