In the last 24 hours, 184 new coronavirus infections were reported in Austria (as of Sunday, 9.30am). However, data from Salzburg were missing due to technical problems, the Interior and Health Ministry said. There were 64 new cases in Vienna, 36 each in Upper and Lower Austria, 15 in Tyrol, twelve in Vorarlberg, eleven in Styria, eight in Burgenland and two in Carinthia. In Burgenland, one asylum seeker tested positive before being transferred to Vienna, as did five other residents.
The number of infected people who died rose from one to 736. Several hospital patients were discharged at the weekend: 143 were hospitalized on Sunday morning, down from 157 the day before. In intensive care units, the occupancy rate remained the same with 28 Covid-19 patients.
Six cases of coronavirus in the refugee neighborhoods of Eisenstadt
Six asylum seekers tested positive for the coronavirus in the “Haus Franziskus” basic supply district in Eisenstadt. Sick people were isolated and all residents were quarantined, the Burgenland Coronavirus Coordination Office announced Sunday. The quarantine was monitored by the police.
A minor asylum seeker who was examined with his family due to a planned transfer to a Vienna district received a positive result. It has no symptoms. The other relatives were not sick, but like the infected person, they were housed in isolation, according to the coordinating staff.
As a result of the positive Covid-19 test, all residents and employees were screened. Another five asylum seekers tested positive. The employee results were all negative. A second screening should be done on Monday.
