Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) tries to calm the dispute over the Corona traffic light and emphasizes that a yellow switch is not to blame. At the same time, it assumes that both the extended mask requirement, for example in retail, and numerical restrictions on events can already be implemented.
The head of government also expressed his understanding for the difficult situation of the cities and districts affected by “yellow.” But it makes sense to see the traffic light for what it is: “A preventive instrument and not a fault.”
“Action is needed”
Kurz emphasizes the focus of the Federal Government: “In addition to the measures and recommendations at the national level, more stringent measures are required, especially where the risk is higher.” On the contrary, this means that people are only forced to take stricter measures when necessary.
The Chancellor emphasizes that the tightening in the yellow regions, that is, Vienna, Linz, Graz and the Kufstein district, can also be implemented. The health ministers already had the legal option yesterday to expand oral and nasal protection Rudolf anschober (Greens) and confirmed legal experts. Changes in events could be regulated by an instruction from the Minister of Health to the federal states.
