At today’s joint Tipico Bundesliga and 2nd division club conference and subsequent general meeting, important framework conditions were decided, especially with regard to the upcoming 2020/21 season.
Match operation / prevention concept, referee
The prevention concept developed in spring will also be used in a revised version in the 2020/21 season. In this context, it was decided to maintain weekly PCR tests for members of the Red Group in order to detect an infection of the actors as quickly as possible. The results of these tests must be available well in advance (36-48 hours) before the respective batch, so that a second series of tests can be carried out in case of a positive result.
This means that training and games can be kept in the new season even if the situation is positive. In the event that fewer than 16 healthy players (14 outfield players + 2 goalkeepers) are available on match day due to COVID, the club in question may request a postponement.
In addition, it was decided to continue the suspension of the “federal state rule” for referees in the new season in order to avoid further travel of the referee teams.
Scoring when the championship is canceled
The goal of the Bundesliga and its clubs is the regular end of a season with all rounds. In order to achieve the greatest possible legal certainty and clarity in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the clubs have decided how the championships will be evaluated in the event of an early termination.
Promoted and relegated
To determine a sports promotion and relegation between the second and the highest division, the entire season (30 days of play) in the 2nd division and the basic and final round (32 days of play) in the Typical Bundesliga must be completed in its entirety. .
If one of the two divisions must be canceled prematurely, there is no athletic promotion or relegation between the highest division and the second highest division.
The decision on promotion and relegation between 2nd division and regional leagues rests with the Presidium ÖFB.
Starting points of the European Cup
The Presidium ÖFB decides on the nomination of the Austrian UEFA starters. Typical Bundesliga clubs recommend linking the allocation of starting places on the demolition stage to different phases of the championship:
- Finish after 11 to 21 laps: scoring from lap 11 (half time of basic round)
- Finish after 22-26 laps: scoring from lap 22 (end of basic round)
- Finish after 27 to 31 rounds: score from the 27th round (half time of the final round)
