Chancellor Kurz has already indicated that there could be a further tightening of action against the corona pandemic. The government will announce what measures are involved starting at 12 noon, and we will report it via livestream.

The government met Wednesday for the first regular Council of Ministers after the summer recess. The main theme was the corona pandemic with new infections that had increased during the summer.

Increasing figures: tightening of measures briefly indicated

In the run-up to the meeting, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) indicated that there could be further tightening of the crown measures. However, it was not initially clear what the specific measures were.

It was reportedly debated when there would be a restriction on the number of participants in events and whether the mask requirement should be expanded. The latter is currently applied in public transport and in certain stores.

Following the Cabinet, Kurz wants to present what the ÖVP and the Greens have agreed, together with Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (both Greens) and Interior Minister Karl Nehammer (ÖVP). We will report on the live broadcast starting at 12 noon.
