FC Wacker Innsbruck is a surprise again.

The Tyrolean unexpectedly announce a change of coach at the end of the season. Innsbruckers will bet on a new head coach for next season, while Thomas Grumser should remain at the club in a different role.

The successor will be announced at 2 p.m. At Wacker, Grumser went from being an active pro to a youth coach and, through amateurs, to the professionals’ head coach, who took over on an interim basis in Fall 2016. After stepping back for the second team, he was Officially named head coach in March 2019.

Despite the lost relegation in the Bundesliga, Grumser received the confidence to gradually lead a young and talented team through the second division HPYBET. With the third place in the table and the passage to the semifinal of the ÖFB Cup, expectations were exceeded. However, it does not appear that the current team of coaches will advance in the coming year.

Grumser’s separation is even more surprising, and goalkeeping coach Dominik Bichler also leaves the current team of coaches. Both must remain in the club in a different role.

Sports director Alfred Hörtnagl explains the reasons for the change of coach as follows:

“In the current season, our young team could play for free and without pressure. Even if we don’t officially announce the promotion goal for next season, expectations will inevitably be different. After detailed analysis, we have concluded that We have this task we want to start with a new coach who has already delivered the corresponding results under similar conditions. Thanks to his relegation from the club, Thomas Grumser gained confidence and accompanied the team through a difficult phase, for which we are very grateful to him. Talented team takes the next step under new leadership. “
