The first green wants to relax mask requirement

Innsbruck’s green mayor Georg Willi believes the mask requirement is outdated and calls for speed relief.

A heavy green politician is now speaking in the debate about the obligation to wear a mask: Georg Willi, the green mayor of Innsbruck, wants a quick change to the harsh rules of the crown and a loosening of the obligation to wear a mask. In the AUSTRIA interview, he confronts his party friends Anschober and Kogler.

Video on the subject:
Willi wants gastronomy to open faster

AUSTRIA: Why do you criticize the slow relaxation of the crown rules?

Georg Willi: I suggest daring more. The three most important rules (distance, hygiene, masks in closed rooms) have long since come to Innsbruck. To accelerate social, cultural and economic life, it would now be necessary to take faster measures.

AUSTRIA: Innsbruck University Professor Günter Weiss considers that the masks in the summer camp make no sense. Would you agree with that?

Willi: I follow your recommendation. Masks only protect you from me when I sneeze, cough, etc. They are also a psychological barrier when I get close to people. But they have practically no effect outdoors. I think ineffective things are superfluous. They are good in closed rooms. But I ask for the end of the masquerade ball under the open sky.

AUSTRIA: At this point, however, you are much braver than your green party colleague Rudi Anschober …

Willi: I am not Minister of Health, nor do I understand their positions. However, for a person’s health, it takes more than just getting rid of a virus. I need social contacts, I have to be able to work, be able to play sports, go to a concert. I want to focus on the comprehensive concept of health.

AUSTRIA: You also demand quick freedom to travel …

Willi: Yes, why should it not be possible to go on vacation to countries with good numbers, such as Croatia or Slovenia? (week)
