There is a possibility that children will stay home when parents see a risk to themselves or to the children. How do you expect how many children will stay home?
Personal responsibility is, of course, particularly important. If the parents feel that the matter is too uncertain, then I don’t want to force them to do so. But I think it will be a clear minority, where perhaps the parents are afraid, but the children less. I believe that one should remove fear from children and allow the positive experience of completing a school year well, also in the classroom community.
But there are only a few school days left, 12-14 per child until the end of school. Is it worth all the effort and fuss?
Clearly yes. It is not about accentuating the transfer of knowledge, we have to put aside the idea that we will now carry out the curriculum at a rapid pace in the remaining weeks. It doesn’t matter. I also said no more homework and the like. It is important to experience community. To reflect on what happened. To end the school year well and begin the new school year strengthened.
Some families with multiple children are very unhappy because children sometimes go on completely different days. school Having or having to stay home. What do you say to them
This affects only a few cases, and I also tell parents that they should contact us and the education directorates. We intervene, otherwise that would be nonsense that happens there.
The probability that children in primary schools always comply with hygiene rules is quite low. Do you think that’s basically a problem?
No, this is a case of the new normal. There will be a fight in the hallway, and things will go from one child to another. Teachers will step in and say please keep your distance. Everything will happen, but I think we must trust the wisdom of the teachers and in the end the children have heard what is happening and have respect for the situation. I was in one recently school preparing for the Matura. There is a new kind of respect, everyone comes in masks and takes care of themselves.
Should there be an infection in one? school give, then what happens?
Since we have a clear plan in case an infection occurs in Schools. The local health authorities should be informed, then the tests and, if the infection is confirmed, they should be quarantined by people with the highest intensity of contact. The plan does not provide for the general closure of the school, but rather a focus and focus on those who have brought the infection and their immediate environment. With one school With a thousand students, in case of infection, there is no point in sending all students to quarantine.
As federal ministers, they are not responsible for kindergartens, but the parents of the kindergarten children were left alone in the opening discussion. How important is kindergarten to you?
For me it is the first educational institution in our educational form. And I think it’s a shame that we only talked about the role of childcare in relation to kindergartens and not about their importance for language acquisition and children’s development.
Basically, kindergarten is the responsibility of the federal states. Did you learn anything from that?
One lesson we need to reflect on is the relationship between the federal government and the state, especially in crisis situations. Clearly, we need to take a more coordinated approach to kindergarten. Both in terms of quality standards, but also with questions such as group size.
