Health Minister Anschober’s criticism: “It’s annoying”

Gernot Zirngast, president of the “Footballers Association” (VdF), has clearly criticized the Minister of Health, Rudolf Anschober.

His statements that the situation regarding the restart of the Bundesliga was “a bit more relaxed due to time constraints” than in Germany, according to which there could be no privileges for soccer professionals, angered the unionist.

“It is annoying when the minister always talks about privileges. Footballers have no privileges, on the contrary, they cannot do their job,” said APA’s Zirngast, referring to the ban on team training for Oberhaus clubs plus the finalist in the Austria Cup. Lustenau and the general training ban for 15 of the 16 second division teams.

Pioneering role for footballers

The VdF boss now hopes that clubs in the two highest divisions will soon be given the green light, “so that the work is not in vain.”

According to Zirngast, kickers would play a pioneering role if restart were allowed. “Soccer players are practically the forerunners, they provide a basis for political decisions in all other team sports.”

This would put kickers at a certain risk, which should be appreciated.

“I would not like to be the first to jump somewhere. I would like to be the second to see if the first survived and then went up,” said Zirngast, and also said: “Football pays for the test itself (note: because it pays the crown tests), and players move away from short-term work and unemployment. “

Skepticism about weakening license

Zirngast also criticized the decision made at the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Bundesliga that clubs no longer have to automatically relegate during a restructuring process.

“This gives all twelve upper house clubs every opportunity to stay with each other.” The unionist does not see a bright future for the second division. “In my opinion, everything in the upper division is aimed at amateur football.”
