The new type of corona virus is spreading like a wildfire in the United States: in absolute numbers, states are already leading the statistics of absolute deaths. Michigan’s Sandy Brown was particularly tragically affected by the pandemic. She only lost her husband, to whom she was married for 35 years, and a few days later also her 20-year-old son after they both became infected with Sars-CoV-2.
Sandy has to deal with two cases of grief in the shortest possible time. Her husband Freddie Jr., 59, showed the first symptoms in mid-March: She suffered from sweating, nausea, and hellish muscle pain. When the sick person could no longer maintain any food, his wife took him to the hospital. Then the shocking diagnosis followed: He had contracted the coronavirus.

At the hospital, the 59-year-old man finally began to experience respiratory difficulties and had to be put into a coma for medical reasons. Brown was very concerned, but her husband tried to take away her fear. “Calm down,” he said on his last phone call. “I get along. It will only take a few days.” Three days later, Freddie Jr. died after his lungs collapsed.
The woman said goodbye to the advice of the nurses. When Sandy received the sad news of saying goodbye to her beloved husband, the nurses refused to allow it because they feared that the woman could also become infected with the pathogen. But she insisted on seeing Freddie Jr. for the last time: “I’m going to go to this room,” he clarified before going to the hospital bed with a robe, gloves and mask to touch his face for the last time.
Sandy’s son Freddie III was an avid soccer player.

The son made the same noise as his father when he breathed. A day after Freddie Jr.’s death, his son, Freddie III, finally showed the first symptoms. They gave him a fever and a cough. “I walked up to him and he was panting like a dog, the same sound I heard from my husband, ”Sandy describes the dramatic situation to NBC. A day later, the 20-year-old also had to be hospitalized, where he initially recovered in health.
But the condition quickly deteriorated in a very short time: The woman who suffered received another call from the hospital. Through Facetime, she spent the last hours with her son, praying for him and singing songs for him. The next day, like his father, he finally succumbed to lung disease.
No one can hug the mourner right now Sandy has to deal alone with these incredible blows of fate. Family and friends should avoid personal contact with her because she could also carry the virus. So far, however, the woman has shown no symptoms. Family members bring their food, but leave it in the garage. “There is no word that describes my pain,” he told the local Detroit News.
Deceased suffered from previous illnesses Both deaths suffered from previous illnesses: the 59-year-old father had to undergo a kidney transplant in 2012. The son suffered from asthma.
