Whistleblower Rui Pinto is apparently ready to cooperate with the judicial authorities in his home country, Portugal. The 31-year-old has changed his stance, reports the French news agency AFP, citing a letter from his lawyer. Pinto, codenamed “John,” had rocked world football as the source of the Football Leaks presentation platform.

Pinto was sent from Hungary to Portugal in March 2019. He now shows “the will to work together,” said the judge, who granted Pinto’s release from pretrial detention. The judge’s evaluation can be found in a document that Pinto’s lawyer sent to AFP.
In Portugal, Pinto is accused, among other things, of “inappropriate appropriation and distribution of data and attempts at extortion”, which he partially admits.
