The last game of the Typical Bundesliga was more than four weeks ago. Austrian football is currently facing a completely unknown and long rest, which will probably continue due to the rampant crown virus. Games in the Typical Bundesliga will be closed until at least the beginning of May.
“You live for games and competitions”
Austria coach Christian Ilzer speaks in an interview with “Viola TV” about a “strange situation”. “Soccer has always played a central role in the last ten years of my life. Now I enjoy spending a lot of time with my children and my wife. Time turns a little slower right now and of course I miss the game. I’ve been on this hamster wheel for ten years, but in the end you live for games and competitions ”, says Styrian as a description of the new and unknown situation in life.

Ilzer implements parts of the startup program itself
Like all other soccer professionals, violets have been in shape within their own four walls for several weeks. The players received programs at home, in which the head coach of Austria also participated: “I try to implement parts of the program at home myself. I would like to feel in my own body how the program feels at home and how it works, so that I can have even more intense conversations with our physical trainer, Angeler. Players are used to being presented with a very structured daily routine, so it’s great that we have players on the team who build a lot of momentum in such a situation. Just as everyone’s startup program now runs, it works perfectly, “Ilzer says.
Resumption of training: “Equity must be given”
While in Germany most Bundesliga teams are already back at training camp and are working towards a possible restart in May, it could still be a while in Austria before training can start again. A VdF poll found that eleven of the twelve Bundesliga clubs in Austria are in favor of returning to training camp.
The Austrian coach also speaks in favor of resuming training, but also emphasizes that justice must be given: “I think we will also focus on major leagues such as German and English. But there must be a clear point in time from which such training is possible and there must be the same conditions for all clubs in the league. Justice must be given. With such small group training, we would have a structure again, we could add the ball and train small technical and tactical elements. If you have to start again, then you also need team training before, we have to make sure that the players are not injured. We will be flexible and adapt to the situation. In the end, we all want to play this season until the end, “says Christian Ilzer.
Ilzer wants the season to continue
Bundesliga board member Christian Ebenbauer had recently spoken in favor of continuing the game. If possible, the season should end athletically. Christian Ilzer also sees it this way: “At first, I personally could not have made friends with ghost games because the style of the stadium is unique and you can live from the euphoric atmosphere that accompanies a soccer game. Now you have to say: we have to go back to the media world, our games must be shown on television again, because this will make our entire food chain work again. Therefore, we also have to deal with ghost games. At least people could follow us on television screens, newspapers would write about us. I think now it is very important for all the clubs. We have to do everything possible to find solutions to end this season. ”
