Clare Wakeford has Down syndrome and contracted the coronavirus. She spent six weeks in the hospital. Now she is healthy again.
Banstead – For six weeks, Clare Wakeford (40) battled coronavirus in the hospital. Miraculously, the woman with Down syndrome survived.

This time it was the nurses and doctors who applauded a patient. Because her patient Clare won after long weeks of bitter struggle for the coronavirus.
As the British newspaper “The Sun” reports, the whole family was deeply concerned that when Clare went to the hospital on March 20, she passed out shortly before.
She tested positive for the coronavirus and was placed in a coma. It was connected to a fan for two weeks. Clare was pulled out of her coma on her 40th birthday.
When her sister Lisa Scarborough (47) received the news that Clare was awake, she burst into tears: “It was a relief!”
Clare was finally released from the hospital more than three weeks later. One of her nurses, Sasha Bethell (38), pushed her through the hallways in a wheelchair. The doctors and nurses applauded.
Sasha said that Clare is absolutely fantastic. “I have been here for over 18 years and there is something about her. I have never been so close to a patient like her.” According to Sasha, Clare is said to have cared more about caregivers than her health. She was the patient who remained with the coronavirus for a long time and was discharged healthy.
Clare thanked her caregivers with heartbreaking words. To them they are all heroes. Her family has now published a donation page to raise money for the hospital.
Upon arriving home, Clare was well received. Now the family will celebrate their 40th birthday together.
