“This is a good gesture. Overall, we expect 10,000 cardboard fans, perhaps 12,000,” said Borussia fan representative Thomas Weinmann. The unusual audience has already impressed on Ginter. “When you look at the stadium for the first time, you really think there are a lot of spectators. It is definitely much better than training in front of empty seats,” he said. “It somehow motivates.”
Cardboard fans are expensive to produce. They are made of a PVC sheet that is waterproof, fire retardant and UV resistant.
