Nigerian drummer Tony Allen died Thursday (April 30) in Paris at the age of 79. The reason was not the coronavirus, but a heart attack, reports, among other things, “BBC”. Allen was considered the co-founder of the so-called Afrobeat, a combination of West African music and high life elements of funk and American jazz. He became famous among others with the band Africa 70 (“Hustler Super Disco”) and his band leader Fela Kuti, who died in 1997, later working on his own projects.

Mourning for “one of the best drummers in the world”
