Fatal tragedy on alpine tour in Gaishorn: 41-year-old woman fell while walking, her partner (55) could only watch helplessly.
A man (55 years old) and a woman (41 years old), both from Graz, intended to climb the top of Admonter Kaibling (Liezen district) on Saturday without skis. They returned around 3pm due to the time and weather, there was snowfall.
Woman crashed in the dark
The two of them entered rough, rocky terrain and into darkness. At around 6 in the afternoon, the woman slipped at an altitude of 1,800 meters and fell about 300 meters. Her companion was unable to help the woman and alerted the police and rescue services.
The alpine police determined
42 rescue workers from the Admont and Trieben mountain rescue team and two alpine policemen from the Liezen alpine task force recovered the body and transported it to the valley. The man was unharmed. The Alpine Task Force in Liezen is conducting further investigations into the course of the accident.
