August Alsina talks about why he chose to reveal his bombshell affair with Jada Pinkett-Smith, which led to the actress having a tell-tale interview with husband Will Smith in July on her Red Table Talk series.
Jada, 48, confessed to the affair with 27-year-old musician August when she sat opposite Will, 51, who decided to let it be a full-blown relationship, instead of an ‘entanglement’, because she tried to describe it.
However, in a new interview with PEOPLE, August claimed that his friendship with the super couple ‘is not broken’ and said that there is ‘a lot of love’ and explained that he came up with the story because it started to influence ‘business relationships’ in his career as a singer.

“I never really cared about what people thought of me, but my personal life began to float into my business life,” he tells the outlet. ‘There were certain fakes about me, and it affected my business relationships.’
“I could understand what it would look like if I was reckless or disrespectful, so it really started to affect my existence, and I’m never okay with that,” he adds. ‘I have three children to take care of. Kill me, hate me, stone me, but bury me an honest man. All I can do is tell the truth. ‘
August refers to his three cousins Chaylin, 14, Amaiya, 13, and Kayden, 11, from whom he became the legal guardian of her father (August’s brother Melvin) died in 2010, and her mother Chandra died in 2018. to cancer on Christmas Day.

The singer added in the interview that he never intended to create ‘problems’ for the Smiths and claims that his relationship with them ‘is not broken.’

But he explained in the interview that the single was ‘nothing personal’ and was just a business move for him, because he was really approached to take care of his uncles – or his ‘naughters’, as he calls them enough .
August said he is now single and concentrating on healing after the whole experience with Jada.
‘I’ve spent a lot of time in a relationship. It’s like the first time you’ve been back to your own type of thing. There is a lot rebuilt in me, a lot of healing in myself that had to happen. But I’m very okay, ‘he explains.
In her own words, Jada declared that she had met August by her son Jaden, 22, and recalls the singer, who would have been 23 at the time, was ‘really sick’.
Jada said: ‘And it all started that he just needed some help, I wanted to help his health, his mental state.
‘The release for him from our family was primarily about his health,’ she said. “We found all those different resources to help him through and from there you and I went through a very difficult time.”
After Jada’s confession, Will admitted, “I was done with you,” while Jada added that they had decided to divorce for a “period of time.”

The mother-of-two went on to respond to August’s claim that Will gave her ‘permission’ to have an affair.
‘The only person who can give permission in that circumstance is myself,’ she suggested.
‘But what August probably tried to communicate was because I could see how he could see it as permission, because we were kindly divorced, and I think he wanted to make it clear that he was not a house wrecker, because he is not. ‘
When Will Jada pressed to clarify what she meant by ‘entanglement’, she replied, ‘It was a relationship, absolutely.’
