August Alsina stands firm in his decision to speak publicly about his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith. The R&B singer defends his actions, claiming he started getting side-eyes behind the scenes when rumors spread that he was marrying Smith. Alsina also explains why he does not worry about criticism of his song “Entanglements” and why he will always cherish the relationship he has with Smith.

Alsina and Pinkett Smith both acknowledge that they have a romantic relationship. They both agree that they started out as friends, with Alsina looking for Pinkett Smith for help with his emotional health and addiction to pain killers.
Pinkett Smith, a licensed co-dependent personality, says her attraction to Alsina fulfilled her need to “repair” people. She also says she was in a depressed state, believing that her marriage to Will Smith was over.
The two trusted each other, with Pinkett Smith marking her ultimate love affair as a “entanglement.” Alsina refers to Pinkett Smith’s description of her relationship in his single, entitled ‘Entanglements’ – a nod to Pinkett Smith’s own words.

In the song, he sings of her relationship, with some of Pinkett Smith’s own movie titles, Will Smith, and other personal anecdotes known about her as metaphors.
Alsina sings:

August Alsina says he does not care about fans who do not like his song ‘Entanglements’
Despite the song, Alsina says he has no problem with the way Pinkett Smith describes her relationship.
“I do not know why that word is such a problem,” he says in a July 2020 interview with Vulture. ‘I would agree [with Jada]. If you look for the definition of ‘entanglement’, it is a complex and difficult relationship. It was just that … It was definitely something complicated, a complicated dynamic. ”

But, some fans are not happy with Alsina’s song. Many believe he will release the single nonetheless. Others argue that Alsina’s motivations are for publicity and for keeping him in the spotlight.
In a new interview with People Magazine, Alsina takes jabs at those who criticize the song.
‘It was cool when people could use it [the word entanglement] as a mockery of me, like, ‘Oh, you’re a filmmaker,’ ‘he says. ‘When I clapped it, it became a problem for people. Like, ‘Oh, you’re chasing after you.’ I’m just doing business. It’s not personal. ”
Alsina also emphasizes that his relationship with the Smith family remains in good condition.
