Atlanta United and Inter Miami CF joined other teams in the sports world by postponing their game for this evening in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake by a Wisconsin police officer on Sunday.
The proposals were reached in the NBA because the Bucks and Magic chose not to play last night’s scheduled playoff game in solidarity. Games between the Rockets and Thunder, such as the Lakers and the Trail Blazers, were later canceled by the NBA. In Major League Baseball, the Reds and Brewers chose not to play, while the WNBA canceled all games scheduled for tonight.
The match tonight between Nashville SC and Orlando City went through as scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Other matches around the league seem to have been postponed along the way by this writing.
Both Major League Soccer and Atlanta United have released the following statement on Twitter:
From this point on, no make-up date has been set, but follow Dirty South Soccer on social media for more updates as the situation develops.
