Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is basically Ubisoft’s Witcher 3.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla looks like it will be Ubisoft’s next generation answer to The Witcher 3, one of the best games ever created.

The new Viking-themed Assassin’s Creed looks great, and could follow one of the best video games out there. A new filming of a development construction shows a gritty, brutal, and dark medieval style that instantly reminds me of Temeria, but the battles are much broader. Out of respect for Ubisoft and the developers of Ubisoft Montreal, we will not link to or integrate the leaked footage.

In the images we see a siege of the castle that culminates in a bloody and chaotic battle. Combat is not as fluid as Geralt’s acrobatic style, but Eivor has a few tricks up his sleeve. The Spartan Kick is back, and this time we can use two weapons and skillfully dodge attacks. There are siege engines and battering rams you can really interact with, complete with destructible environments like gates. There are also beheadings and fatal executions. A strong boss fight punctuates the siege, complete with monstrous wolves.

RPG interactions like NPC missions and dialogue are very fluid and also bring Witcher 3 vibes. Characters are well animated and feel rooted in the world around them, and Eivor probably has dialogue options this time, but no we saw none. Some of the NPC scenes discussed Saxon and Danish unions, underscoring the central focus of the game on political unions.

The skill point system is a kind of constellation setup like Skyrim with a ton of liabilities, similar to Path of Exile.

Other RPG mechanics include a basic-looking gear system that’s not as refined as something like AC Origins or Odyssey. There wasn’t a Store page, so we’re not sure if Valhalla will be the subject of optional convenience items this time, but it’s Ubisoft, so don’t bet against mTX.

Exploration is where the material really shines. Players can ride a horse and explore 9th-century war-torn England, from golden coasts to forests and rolling fields dotted with castles and mysterious and enchanting ruins. It really reminds you a lot of Temeria.

The tour of the ship is absolutely incredible and fully shows what the latest generation consoles are capable of. Detailed atmospheric effects, like fog, churn around the ocean as lightning ravages the skies, storm winds, and rain rushing in ruthless layers. A castle is on the horizon, your goal and your conquest, and fiery arrows fill the skies and ignite nearby ships. The result is an amazing show of what appears to be the game of the year 2020.

We are not sure how new this footage really is. This may be what Ubisoft will display on your Ubisoft Forward Live Streaming Event July 12 at 3pm EST.

The game does look a little rough in places, and there are some obvious typos, for example it is required to be misspelled on the inventory page so this material may not look outside the inner circles of developing.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla will launch in 2020 as a launch game for the next generation of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.
