When comprehensive details are released in early December, the program’s participation criteria requirements are simple and streamlined:
- Existing developers who earned 1 1 million in 2020 for all their apps, as well as new developers in the App Store, may be eligible for the program and reduced commissions.
- If the participating developer exceeds the million 1 million threshold, the standard commission rate will apply for the remainder of each year.
- If a developer’s business falls below the 1 million threshold in a future calendar year, they may demand a 15 percent commission the following year.
The app store has a standard commission rate of 30 percent for applications that sell digital goods and services and earn more than 1 1 million, defined as developer’s post-commission earnings. Earlier this year, an independent study by Analysis Group found that the commission structure of the moment is in the mainstream for application distribution and gaming platforms.
