Apple lands Justin Timberlake drama ‘Palmer’

Apple has chosen the dramatic film starring Justin Timberlake Palmero.

In the film, Timberlake plays Eddie Palmer, a former college football phenomenon who, after spending time in prison, returns to his hometown to get his life back. There, he faces not only the lingering conflicts of his past, but a much more startling challenge as well, as he suddenly finds himself in charge of a single child who has been abandoned by his rebellious mother.

Juno Temple, June Squibb, and Alisha Wainright also star, along with newcomer Ryder Allen.

Fisher Stevens directed the film from a script by Cheryl Guerriero, which appeared on the 2016 Blacklist.

SK Global, Rhea Films, Nadler No GMO Popcorn Co. and Hercules Film Fund are behind the project, with Sidney Kimmel, John Penotti, Charlie Corwin, Daniel Nadler and Charles B. Wessler as producers. They produced Robert Friedland, Terry Dougas, Jean-Luc De Fanti, Mark O’Connor, Paris Kassidokostas-Latsis, Bruce Toll and Guerriero exec.

Palmero is the latest in a series of pills for the tech giant, which recently acquired the massive Cannes package Emancipation, starring Will Smith; Martin Scorsese’s Flower Moon Assassins; and Jake Gyllenhaal’s graphic novel adaptation Snow Blind. The streamer recently debuted with Tom Hanks’ World War II feature, which was once in the theater. Greyhound, which launched on Apple TV + last Friday.

CAA Media Finance and Endeavor Content negotiated the deal.
