Apple Central World comes to life in Bangkok with the treetop roof

Apple Central World arrives on July 31 in Bangkok. Ahead of its grand opening, Apple is previewing some of the store’s impressive architectural details at home.

Last week, we took you on a tour of Bangkok, stopping at Central World at the Ratchaprasong intersection to learn more about Apple’s new home in Thailand. This week, Apple has discovered the store and is ready to share a closer look at one of its most exclusive retail projects.

At the heart of Apple Central World is a huge curved wooden vortex that blossoms skyward. Apple calls the design a Tree Canopy Roof. The store is surrounded by curved glass panels that almost completely dissolve the building’s facade. A polished stainless steel elevator and cantilevered spiral staircase lead to the upper level Forum and video wall.

The cylindrical shape of the store makes Apple Central World a quick comparison to Steve Jobs Theater, but the design is less of a remix of what has already been done in Cupertino and more of a whole new experience created just for Bangkok. Design elements like freestanding avenues with graphic panels, curved wood, and plank walls are making their Apple Store debut.

Apple Central World joins Apple Iconsiam across the Chao Phraya River as the second Apple store in Thailand and the 511 in the world. More than 130 team members who speak 17 languages will attend the store. Apple will continue to operate both stores with health and safety precautions such as mask requirements, frequent cleaning, temperature controls, and reduced occupancy.
