Apex Legends Chaos Theory Update Patch Notes: Legend Buffs and Enfarf



Chaos Theory makes some major gameplay changes in addition to new content in the event collection event. Check out the full patch notes for all the changes to the legends, weapons and more coming on March 9th.

Caustic’s town takeover, Bangalore’s hairloom and a bunch of new skins are the main highlights of the Chaos Theory Collection event, but Rispen has also done a lot of leaps and bounds to legends and weapons.

At the top of the list we have the imperfections for Mastiff, who has definitely become a bit stronger in recent seasons. There are also imperfections in caustic, and some improvements in some weak legends. No Phil Matchmaking is also being introduced.

Permanent updates

Caustic

  • Knox gas grenade Coldtown increased from 2.5 minutes to 3.5 minutes.
  • Knox gas Damage at a flat rate of 5hp per tick instead of increasing from 6hp → 12hp.

Dev Note: Caustic is ruthlessly effective in slowing down engagements. The perfection of its kit with a wide area of ​​gas spreading effect, slow, vision obstruction and direct health damage. It has proven to be very oppressive in many scenarios, especially considering fellow players can play gas relatively uncompressed. Significantly reducing gas loss (without removing it completely or affecting the armor instead) seems like a reasonable compromise that keeps the character true while making it less oppressive at the end of receiving. We will closely monitor the data and gameplay. If these changes severely affect the appeal or effectiveness of Caustic, we will revisit accordingly.

Pathfinder

Dev Note: Low profile has been used as a balancing tool for both mobile and / or small legends. Even though Path is still mobile, his hitbox is big. While its overall win rate and encounter win rate are by no means low, it’s hard to justify keeping a low profile on a hitbox of its size.

Gibraltar

  • Removed the use of 15% faster healing while there Protection dome.

Horizon

  • Increased Black hole Colddown from 2 minutes to 3 minutes

Regeneration

  • Reventant Silence now disables Mirage’s clogged resuscitation and resuscitation as well as Octane’s Swift Mend.

Watson

Rampart

Dev Note: The walls should be fleshy and powerful once built. Before sending the rampart, we were worried that its structures would be very repressive and so we gave enemy players the option to quickly clear them with grenades. This is not necessary, as it turns out, so we are removing the growing damage from the amped cover and the grenade against Sheila.

Weapon update

Weapons optics

  • All Gold AR and LMG default optics updated to 2x Browser.

Mastiff

  • Bullet damage decreased from 13 → 11. Fire rate increased from 1.0 → 1.1.

Dev Note: The goal of these changes is to keep the identification of this weapon between a fast fire Eva-8 and a heavy hitting peacekeeper. The Mastiff has been consistently dominant in close quarters fighting, seeing its forgiving spread pattern and more damage spikes with each shot. This reduces the likelihood of high losses to limit the amount of experience of two pump players at the end of receiving this change.

Wingman

  • +1 bullet for each magazine size, including support.

Hamlock

  • Increased hip-fire spread.

Dev Note: The explosion damage from Hamlock’s hip-fire seemed a bit consistent for the AR which should excel in the medium range. This change reduces the spikes of damage in the near quarter of the hemlock that seem to be getting worse.

Quality of life change

  • Loot Kings Canyon – We have carried out looting to bring quality to the map, while also retaining some amount of loot after Mirage Voyage escaped.
    • Each of the wooden shakes on the map should have a few more pieces, and in general it should be of a bit more quality.
    • Spotted lake has been reduced from high to medium quality.
    • The crash site has redistributed the loot in the area a bit. The amount remains the same, but the high quality loot should be in the ship.
    • Caustic treatment has more booty than water treatment, and that is hiccup quality.
  • Applied Weapon Optic Self Swing – For guns with fully locked attachment slots, such as full-kit gold weapons and most crate weapons, you can now remove the stick and replace it with a different look. This does not apply to the Kreber sniper rifle.
  • Help has been added to the HUD in the game next to the murder. This was already present in the ranks and has now been added to the unranked. Assistants still do not contribute to XP. This spectator has replaced the “I” icon.
  • Assistants and Knox have been added to your team’s banners and will appear at the end of the match.
  • If all players are part of the same club then the club name will now appear on the match summary and champion screen.
  • Items will no longer “stick” to the crafting replicator when placed on the replicator.
  • Badge progress – For longer progressing badges, hovering over the badge will show you more information. For example, if you are trying to win 50 as a lifeline, you will now see that you have 45 somewhere between 15 and 50.
  • Ping My Deathbox – While breathing on the dropship, you can now ping your own deathbox to help locate it easily.
  • Gold backpack – Players who will be revived by a gold backpack will have an energy raja crackle – depending on the level of armor they wear – while being revived. They will also display the FX of Armor Rouge when the revival is finished. This change will help players prioritize advancing revival in progress
  • Players on the PC can now go back to the title screen from the lobby to allow switching to data centers without having to restart the game.
  • Added numbers in advanced view control. This will help people experiment and should easily return to their favorite settings.
  • When scanning a beacon for Ring 6, you should now be able to see the location where Ring 6 ends.
  • Inspect weapons – Since the Survival slot moved its button to the controller (we only have so many buttons!), The inspection weapon is basically moved to the Emot wheel. It can be tied to any key on the PC.

Bug fixes

Gibraltar

  • Fixed an issue with Gibraltar not getting hit registration while simultaneously releasing ADS and shooting when its gun shield expires

Wraith

  • Reth players will no longer be able to cancel voids by jumping on the wall
  • New Skydive Emot will now work with Legendary Skins

Caustic

  • Fixed a bug that led Knox Gas to Flickr for some players affected by it

Octane

  • Double-jumps will no longer be disabled using the same jump pad over and over again
  • Players are not allowed to “glide” along the wall after using the jump pad

Crypto

  • Dr. Pto’s animation of bringing out his drone is no longer to be ignored by throwing a holospray.
  • Crypto will no longer be able to teleport to a replicator
  • Mastiff reloading and crypto drones will not be 30-30 faster

Loba

  • In a few areas the frozen loba will be able to teleport her to get stuck

Rampart

  • Athletes will no longer be able to use Sheila to come down to the world when the Olympus is so close to the Phase Runner

Horizon

  • Gravity lift off the floor when used on a train track in a World Edge sorting factory.
  • Using a zipline after a gravity lift will not increase accuracy

Fuse

  • The motherload will now damage and destroy the jump pads

Mastiff

  • Leaving and selecting Mastiff will not cause it to reload

3030 repeater

  • Leaving and picking -30–30 will no longer be a reason to reload it
  • 30-30 will now spread the deviation when the ADS is firing and jumping

MISC

  • Fixed a bug that prevented Steam users from sending friend requests to each other
  • Usernames are now updated when the user switches between the original client for the Steam client
  • Fixed a bug preventing players from creating or joining clubs as players’ EA accounts are already associated with other platforms
