Apex Legends and Overwatch fans can finally see how the titles can be mixed thanks to an impressive set of new cross skins.
Apex Legends and Overwatch couldn’t be more different in terms of pure gameplay. One is an intense Battle Royale while the other is a tactical team shooting game. They develop in a unique way, but they share some key similarities; Both allow you to choose from a lineup of fascinating legends and heroes, respectively.
While players in both games often cry out for certain features to roll over, no actual crossover has yet been produced. Blizzard and Respawn Entertainment have forged their own paths and built massive but distinct communities. But what would it be like if the two giants of the gaming industry collaborated?
Thanks to a fantastic set of cosmetic designs from ‘HybbletonNow we have a look at that vision. Four iconic Overwatch heroes have been transported to the Battle Royale realm with vibrant cosmetics for popular legends.
The incredible design brings Overwatch to Apex Legends like never before.
Each Overwatch mask is applied to the most suitable legend. Not only when it comes to visual similarities, but also in terms of skills and personality. Junkrat’s madness has been applied to the equally ridiculous octane, for example.
Octane still features most of its standard cargo, but this crossover leaves it in the mix with a Junkrat twist. He has explosives in his chest and a Frag Launcher explosive in his right hand. These two would surely be a match made in heaven with their penchant for chaos.
Revenant is the next character to receive a unique cross design in this set. Overwatch’s Reaper translates when his haunting mask and black hood drop onto the stalking legend. As if Revenant couldn’t be more sinister, this skin would surely give your opponents a whole new scare.
Revenant and Reaper would probably be best friends if they ever got together.
Bangalore is perfectly equipped with a soldier: 76 also in this design. The two characters come from a military background and even line up with similar abilities. However, one could only imagine how devastating the Soldier’s Tactical Visor would be in the open landscape of a Battle Royale.
Last but not least, the game’s most charming legend gets the funniest design ever. Rather than copying over an equally invisible character in Shadow, this creation gives Mirage a new D.Va look. With a pink and purple twist, Mirage strips off her look and even poses with a weapon similar to her Light Gun.
D.Va could very well fit into the world of Apex Legends with his experience piloting mechs.
Obviously, these are just concepts for now. Although it would certainly be exciting to have huge titles crossing the line. In fact, the developers of Respawn have already let it slip that they are open to collaborations.
An official crossover with the Valve’s Portal franchise appears to be on the way soon, as Apex heads to Steam later in the year.
