Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is No Japan’s Second Best-Selling Game Ever

Since Nintendo published its latest financial results, we’ve heard a lot about Animal Crossing: New Horizons sale. It has now sold more than 22 million copies worldwide, which means it has sold more copies than the entire Metroid franchise.

If this was not already sufficient evidence of how great Nintendo’s life sim series has become over the years, Game Data Library has cracked some numbers – revealing the latest entry is now the second best-selling video game ea within Japan.

The only game for it is the original Pokémon title on Game Boy, which has shifted a at all 10,230,000 units (remember, this is the combined total of red, green, and blue). Technically, this means Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the best-selling single SKU in Japan – put it ahead of the original Super Mario Bros. game in four months.

The other two Switch titles featured on this list include Pokémon Sword and Shield en Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Game Data Library also mentions how Pokémon Red, Green and Blue are likely to be taken over by New Horizons in the future.
