Amy Adams joins the movie ‘Dear Evan Hanson’ in Universal – Deadline


Universal’s large-screen adaptation of Broadway Musical Dear Evan Hansen Going to add some A-list talent. Scar-nominated actress Amy Adams has signed on to join the studio adaptation of Ben Plot, Caitlin Diver and Amanda Steinberg.

The story follows Hansen, a high schooler with social anxiety. He is inadvertently caught lying after the family of a classmate who made suicide mistakes in a letter to note Hansen’s son’s suicide. Adams will play Cynthia Murphy, the mother of the class that commits suicide.

Steven Levenson, the author of the book for stage musicals, wrote the script, and Benz Pasak and Justin Paul wrote the music and the original lyrics for the music and the film. Stephen Chabosky will direct, and Mark Platt and Adam Siegel will produce for their Universal-based Mark Plot productions.

Universal’s SVP Productions will oversee production on behalf of Sara Scott and Development Director Lexi Barta Studios.
