Now this was out of the backs ejection.
Mike Rizzo, general manager of the Washington Nations, was tossed to the umpires from a luxury suite in Atlanta on Sunday, with longtime crew chief West West saying, “Enough.”
“I don’t take it from any player. I won’t take it from the manager, “West told the Associated Press. “If it was Donald Trump, I would have fired him too. But I will still vote for him. ”
-Old-year-old West, who is on track to set the record for most games umpired in the history of the big leagues next year, Crew told the commissioner’s office on Friday that Rizzo was previously equipped with umpires in the National-Brave series.
“We informed the office fee that we would stop it if it continued,” West said. “And we did.”
This was the latest incident with the national team finishing last in the seventh inning, with the NL East defending world series champions defending Atlanta by six runs in the game, eventually losing 10-3.
After Chris Martin threw the pitch at Eric Thames with two outs, umpire Hunter Wendellstat stepped off the plate, turned to face the stand and “you’re out” while kicking his toe.
Rizo was outside the b-room, at the high altitude of the plate at Truist Park, without a mask and barking towards the ground.
“He was saying ‘you’re brutal’ and other things, ‘West said.’ We’re in an epidemic situation, you can hear everything. ‘
Because of the coronavirus, there is no crowd in the bubblepark, so someone on the field can be heard saying, “Call for safety.” West then went to the Braves dugout to use the telephone.
Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman said he heard someone scream before Wendelstatt reacted.
“I think I heard someone screaming a few days ago,” Freeman added, “there are no fans in the stands so we thought of keeping ourselves boomer.”
Citizens manager Dave Martinez said “someone screamed” but did not give further details.
“I spoke briefly with Hunter,” Martinez said. “We want to get a certain person out and see what we can do about it,” he said.
Major League Baseball said it has launched an investigation.
“We have spoken to the citizens about what happened during today’s game, and today we will talk to the umpiring crew,” the MLB said in a statement. “We would expect the West Coast crew to provide a full account of their perspective, and we would follow up with them accordingly.”
The ejection comes a day after the nationals announced the extension of a multi-year contract for Rizzo, 59, who is also the president of the baseball operations team.
Washington has struggled with Shington this season and is 14-25. World Seas MVP Stephen Strasberg was recently kicked out of the stand for booming on the umpires while playing the Mets in New York by the Nationals.
Rizzo has emerged as an umpire in the past, especially after losing to the Mets at City Field in 2016. Rizzo and Ump Jim Joyce had to separate, arguing in a hallway with locker rooms for teams and umpires.
