Amazon’s redesigned Fire TV software starts rolling out today

Software software running on Amazon’s Fire TV streaming devices is set to undergo significant changes in the coming weeks, and the “new Fire TV experience” rollout will begin today on some devices. Once the update is installed, you’ll have access to new features such as multizar support (with individual recommendations and clock lists for each profile) and a streamlined interface that speeds up access to your favorite entertainment apps.

When you’re in the mood to watch something but you’re not sure, there’s a new “Find” tab that brings games from movies, TV shows, free ad-supported content and a variety of services.

You can now have a personal user profile on Fire TV – including children’s accounts.

Amazon has also improved the Alexa integration with the new Fire TV dashboard. If you set up this voice profile, Alexa will recognize your voice and automatically switch to the right profile when you ask for it, and you can switch between different sections (live TV, news, etc.) with these commands. .

The new experience also adds picture-in-picture and support for less intrusive Alexa feedback when you ask for things like the weather; It will now appear at the bottom of the screen instead of covering the content you are viewing.

Oddly enough, Amazon is rolling out its new software before its recently released Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite; High-end devices like the Fire TV Stick 4K and the Fire TV Cube will have to wait until early 2021. A small subset of eligible devices will find it immediately; Amazon doesn’t frequently update the Fire TV interface again, so the company is taking its time to make sure everything is streamlined.
