Today’s Dealmaster is topped off by a nice discount on the Bose 700 noise-canceling headphones, which have dropped to $ 299 on Amazon. The deal only applies to the white “Soapstone” model, but it matches the lowest price we’ve seen for wireless noise-canceling headphones to date. This discount is $ 100 off the Bose MSRP and about $ 80 off the device’s typical online sale price.
While we haven’t formally reviewed the Noise Canceling Headphones 700 on the site, we’ve tested them for various gift guides over the past year. Generally speaking, they’re a good fit for those in the market for a premium pair of noise-canceling wireless headphones. Its metal design has a higher-end feel than competitive peers, such as Sony’s WH-1000XM3 or Bose’s QuietComfort 35 II, and as a result are slightly heavier on the head, the wide padding In-ear headphones and headband keep them comfortable to wear for longer periods. In terms of audio quality, they have a more advanced bass sound than the more neutral QuietComfort 35 II, resulting in slightly less treble detail, but it still sounds “fun” enough for those who like powerful bass. They also average around 20 hours of battery life.
As is typical for Bose headphones, the quality of active noise cancellation here is excellent. Although they are slightly Less powerful than the WH-1000XM3 in raw measurements, they are still more than capable of silencing low-end hum and ambient sounds. And unlike Sony’s pair, the Noise Canceling Headphones 700 let you customize the power of its noise-canceling effect on a 10-point scale, so if you only want to partially attenuate outside noise, you can.
However, there are a few caveats that are worth noting. The first is that we still find the WH-1000XM3 to be a better overall pair if you don’t need the most premium design and customizable noise cancellation – they are lighter in weight, sound a bit more full and customizable, their design folds up and give more room for your touch controls. It’s also worth bearing in mind that Sony is expected to launch tracking of those headphones in the coming weeks, possibly bringing improved sound, call quality, and multi-device connections.
Beyond that, the Noise Canceling Headphones 700 rely more than usual on a companion app for feature control. Some users have reported issues with updates to that app in the past, to the point that Bose recently took out a full firmware update. These issues don’t seem to affect most users, and we still think they’re generally recommended headsets, but if you prefer a more direct pair, you might want to look elsewhere.
However, if you don’t need a new pair of noise-canceling cans, we also have deals on Amazon devices, Samsung’s Galaxy S10e, Fitbit activity trackers, and more. Take a look at the full summary below.
