With the impending launch of Xbox Series X and PS5 this holiday season and the surrounding buzz likely to dominate industry conversations for the foreseeable future, August appears to be quiet before the storm. However, that does not mean that nothing remarkable comes out in August. Actually, there are several new and exciting games on the horizon, one of which is a PS4-exclusive old Horizon Zero Dawn PC port (See what I did there?). You can also expect games like Madden NFL Football 21, Wasteland 3, A Total War Saga: Troy and much more.

To give you a proper look at the games coming out for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch, we’ve put together the biggest ones from August 2020 below. Horizon Zero Dawn (PC) – August 7

In what still seems like a surprising move, Sony is finally bringing some of its biggest games to the PC. While Death Stranding launched on PC in July, Horizon Zero Dawn is the first that Sony personally brings to the platform. Originally released exclusively for PS4, the upcoming port features numerous graphical enhancements, including ultra-wide support, unlocked frame rate, improved foliage physics, and improved reflection details. There are also graphical options for further optimization, driver remapping, and an in-game benchmarking tool. If you’re interested in trying Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, be sure to buy it on Steam and the Epic Games Store when it launches on August 7.

Madden NFL 21 (PS4, Xbox One, PC) – August 28

Madden NFL 21 is out in late August on current generation consoles and will feature several improvements to the mechanics of the long-running series. This year, you can expect improved AI, more offensive / defensive plays, and even more X-Factor skills for star players. It’s worth noting that the game will also hit the next generation of PS5 and Xbox Series X, with free updates for owners of the current generation through EA’s Dual Tititlement program.

Wasteland 3 will finally launch on August 28. After being delayed due to the logistical challenges presented by the pandemic, the latest in the post-apocalyptic isometric RPG series has been slow to arrive. Developer inXile Entertainment first announced the game and successfully funded it over Fig in 2016. Players can expect better turn-based combat and higher-quality visuals than previous games, along with other new features such as vehicle navigation and cooperative play.
