Alice Johnson missed her big chance as the shorthand nets were blown away by the Jazz, 118-88

There were obstacles against shorthand nets.

Without James Harden, Carrie Irving, Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin, the Nets suffered a 118-88 loss to the Jazz in Salt Lake City. With the loss, Brooklyn comes in at 30-15 this season and sits 2.0 games behind the first-ranked Sixers. The loss also broke the net’s franchise-record nine-game West Coast road winning streak.

“It’s a great team. The team with the best record in the league. We went out there in a strictly man-made way and most importantly, they got stuck together and played a tough game, ”Nash Postgame said.

“We are very good defensively. Maybe left a lot of threes but otherwise, did a lot of big things defensively. Just told them I’m proud of them. It was great to see some of those people get a few minutes, get some opportunities, make a few buckets, stand up a bit, stop and grow. Many are grateful and we move on to Detroit. ”

The Nets became the last NBA team to lose a game of 20 points or more.

Despite losing by 30+ and trailing by 20+ in most competitions, the game turned out to be a great opportunity for role players … and no one captured the moment better than Eliz Johnson, who joined the team on Wednesday morning.

Johnson signed a 10-day deal with Brooklyn Monday with the new launch of the impressive G-League bubble campaign. It was an easily bright spot at a loss. The 6’8 ”forward will end with a double-double of 23 minutes and 15 rebounds in a 33-minute game with three assists and two steals.

“It was great,” Nash said of the postgame. “State sheet stuffed, played good defense and gave us a lot of energy. I don’t think he really played with the GG League bubble, so made an effort from it. (I) am proud of the way he played. ”

The 24-year-old entered the game with 31 games of NBA experience split between the two seasons with the Pacers. The team became the first net since 1979 with 20+ points and 15+ rebounds in 1979. Calvin Knott (20 points and 19 rebounds) had a big game on October 12, 1979.

“Just prove to everyone that I’m here in the NBA,” Johnson said of his statement on the game’s postgame. “I worked hard and I will continue to work and try to be the best player I can be.”

As the Thursday afternoon trading deadline approaches, the Nets could free Johnson to fill the roster spot if needed. But at the other end of the spectrum, Brooklyn could offer Johnson another 10-day, once the first-person term expires, assuming he lives up to the deadline … and will sign the players he buys.

“I’m taking it day in and day out and not trying to think about it. Every time I get out there on the floor and get a chance I try to play it like my last game, ‘Jones said of his future uncertainty. “That way I’m getting closer to this thing and everything else will take care of it.”

Chris Chioza, who has not played in the last seven games before Wednesday, logged in for 28 minutes on the Inter Guard and played well to win the match with 10 points and 11 assists. The lattice did not shoot the two-way ball well, going 2-of-9 out of 4-of-16 and 2 balls overall.

Reggie Perry, himself back from the “bubble”, had 12 points and eight rebounds and scored an overall 4-of-9, including 2-of-4 deep.

Timothy Luvawa-Cabertot, who started, finished with 14 points, five rebounds and an assist in 34 minutes as he worked to get back into rotation. Harris had just five minutes of action in the quarter just before resting for the rest of the game while Dandre Jordan had four points off the bench in 12 minutes.

For Utah, Donovan Mitchell finished with 27 points in 27 minutes, then Mike Conley contributed 18 points in 25 minutes as the Jazz improved to 32-11 in the season, 17 at home in a row. The team has kept West’s No. 1 seed down.

It was definitely a fantastic first quarter for the Benz-up Nets. The Jazz were rolling early when Utah took a 16-4 lead with an 11-0 lead, as Steve Nash called an early timeout with 7:38 left in the first. While Utah certainly couldn’t let go of the gas, as Jazz gleamed on their lead against the shorthand net, finishing first with a 38-17 lead. The team shot 25.0 per cent overall and 18.2 per cent from the cold when the net’s ugly team recorded its first turnover.

Nash and the Nets had fun experimenting with the lineups as all 10 active players watched the first-quarter minutes. To close out the period, Brooklyn had Reggie Perry, who finished with 12 points in 28 minutes, Dandre Jordan and Nicholas Claxton, who finished on the floor together with four points and three rebounds in 23 minutes.

Brooklyn re-entered second place when Uta reduced their effort and went cold, targeting their first field with 6:28 left. As the Jazz held the Jazz scoreless for about six minutes, Brooklyn cut the deficit to 11.3 on the long deficit during the second, but Utah woke up at the break to finish with a -363–38, of which .20.6 percent was shooting. . 15.8 per cent from the field and cold – a season-low.

The 38 first-half points of the net marked the lowest points made by the team in all seasons and not a single net could enter the double-figure. Chiosza provided a good performance for Brooklyn as his hustle and speed translated into seven points in 12 minutes while Luvav-Caber otn got seven points in 16 minutes.

Utah Lokarm wanted to come out of the room and take the lead, as Jazz scored 15-6 in the first seven minutes of the third as the game was wrapped up at the time. Utah took their long lead by holding the net behind the 29th for the final 12 minutes, loosening their bench in the middle in the fourth and winning the game. And that was it.

Protecting Harden from yourself

Wednesday’s loss was only the second time James Harden had sat down since it was sold in the net in the first week of January. Although he played in Portland on Sunday, he was suffering from a shot he took to the neck of the game before the Wizards vs. Wizards.

Nash explained to the pre-game that Harden wanted to play, but it wasn’t up to him to decide, that the team had decided that the team could do 40 minutes more damage than damage.

“I hope it’s short-term,” Nash said. “To be honest, I’m sure James would like to play [in Utah]. But it is not. I don’t think it’s safe to play for him, and I think sometimes you have to defend him on your own. He is such a warrior and rival and loves to play.

“But it was questionable [Tuesday], Played a ton of minutes. You can see it was hard for him to shoot the ball, but he still clearly dominates the other way. But I think [Wednesday] It was a clever and safe decision to save himself and get him out of the lineup because he was struggling. It’s too sore. I hope he gets back into the next game now, but we’ll have to see him here day in and day out. ”

So there is no word yet on if there is a sore throat and whether it will come back on Friday.

Movie room

There weren’t many highlights in this one (Duh), except for ESPN, quite literally ESPN as a podcasting opportunity to bring in Adrian Wozniacki to discuss some timeline rumors. They just can’t … comment the game straight up for 8 minutes of the game. Not sure I’ve been laughing that hard for a long time.

Alice Johnson was good too, right? Some promising energy, good rebounding instincts. He will get a chance somewhere.

This is a push shot! He went inside!

That’s all I’ve got. I’m sorry. This was a rough one.

Reggie Perry’s hilarious comment on the fantastic lineup

There was a tug-of-war during the first half in which the mad scientist Nation threw lines on Wednesday night which included three centers with Nicholas Claxton, Reggie Perry and Deandre Jordan (yes, the game was found That Strange). It was a night to experiment.

Reggie Perry provided his (hilarious) thoughts.

“When we first saw it happen,” Perry explained. “We all looked like each other … okay? … we’re all the same here? …”

What’s next

The NBA trading deadline is Thursday at 3 p.m. Pundits continue to suggest that Brooklyn make an injured fur offering Spencer Dinwiddy a potential deal for the Pte wing defender. The Nets will close their three-game road trip when the team travels north to face the Detroit Pistons on Friday. The game is set at 7:00 ET.
