Alex Trebik’s message tells viewers to ‘thank’ and ‘have faith’.

The message was recorded earlier this year as part of the Thanksgiving Day episode. “Crisis!” Tweeted the clip Thursday morning, ahead of the scheduled broadcast.
The beloved TV host died on November 8, less than two years after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

In a posthumous message, Trebeck acknowledged the unprecedented difficulties facing the nation this Thanksgiving.

“You know there are many reasons to be grateful, despite what America and the rest of the world are experiencing right now,” Trebeb said in the video.

He added, “More and more people are extending a helping hand to show mercy to their neighbors,” and that’s a good thing. “

A spokesman for the show did not immediately respond to inquiries about when the episode was taped.

The host’s message spreads late as Americans observe a very different Thanksgiving over the last several years, with a record number of coronavirus infections and nearly a million people dying from the virus. Across the country, families have been urged not to gather for the holiday in hopes of stopping the spread.

“Trust me,” Trebeck pleaded. “We’re going to go through all of this, and because of that we’re going to be a better society.”
