Health Minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize has heard President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call to join the Jerusalem dance challenge on Heritage Day.

Mkhize released a three-minute video on Thursday, showing him and his team, dressed in black and white, participating in the challenge.

In the video, the Health Ministry added a bit of creativity to the dance moves by holding signs and with Mkhize at one point spraying disinfectant on the hands of his colleagues.

“Stay safe. Level 1. We made it. But remember. Wear your mask. Wash your hands,” say some of the signs.

Mkhize, in a second video posted on the SA Coronavirus website, said that Jerusalem it was a reminder that there was light even in a period of darkness.

“It is our Heritage Month. Let’s use this to lift ourselves up and unite in having fun, remembering that we’ve been through a very difficult time and still possibly have difficult times ahead of us.

“That is what this song means to us, that in the midst of a crisis we find a space to be loving, compassionate, to find a space to enjoy and encourage and comfort each other,” he said.

Meanwhile, South Africans, individuals and businesses, have also taken up the Ramaphosa challenge. These are some of the videos shared on the official Twitter account of the Presidency:
