The Jacob Zuma Foundation may be right, attorney Nthabiseng Dubazana said, following a scathing three-page statement released by the foundation in defense of Zuma against what they see as an attempt to embarrass the former president.
Dubazana says the issues raised in the document have some merit in pointing to an indictment that specifically identifies that Minister Pravin Gordhan, in one instance, allegedly failed to provide an affidavit.
Statements such as these had merit in that they indicated that the same “general treatment” was not offered to the parties.
Although the issues raised in the three-page complaint against Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo did not have legal standing, they nonetheless provided Zuma’s legal team with a base to rely on, if they were bringing a civil case.
An adequate 24-hour deadline should have been provided to Zuma’s legal team in advance, Dubazana stressed during the interview.
The foundation retaliated in the same public space in which the vice president of the Supreme Court issued the comments. Although the president of the Supreme Court can be considered to be setting foot, there are processes to follow, Dubazana said. Zondo had not refuted that Zuma was ill, and Zuma’s legal team could use Zondo’s actions of late to discredit the Vice President of the Supreme Court, with a civil case of possible defamation of character.
Some of the foundation’s allegations were that Zondo lacked the same courage in the face of open defiance from certain people, that they have refused to appear before the commission, and that Zondo has not called a press conference to respond to Gordhan when not even You have been able to File an affidavit to explain your failure to appear. This incoherence and fear of the powerful is not expected of the man who occupies the second highest position in the judiciary.
The document criticizing Zondo’s actions expressed disappointment at Zondo’s treatment of Zuma.
“[Zondo’s] The press conference was ill-advised and utterly inappropriate for a person of his seniority in the judiciary.
“His attacks against President Zuma and his legal representatives were absolutely unjustified and damaging,” he added.
“During his press conference, the President failed to mention that the instructions themselves regarding the date of October 9, 2020 and November 16-20, 2020 were only communicated to President Zuma’s attorneys on Friday, September 18, 2020.
“Without provocation, the president calls the press conference, insinuating that President Zuma or his lawyers have challenged him when they have not even responded to the letter of September 18, 2020. It is regrettable, though not surprising, that he decides that the way to deal with the matter is through the media ”.
Zondo announced that he would consider a request for Zuma to be summoned to appear before him for five days in November. On Monday, Zondo said he would not negotiate with Zuma and his legal team about the dates when Zuma should testify in commission.
The vice president of the Supreme Court announced that he has determined that Zuma will appear before him from November 16 to 20.
People’s Congress spokesman Dennis Bloem says Zuma and his puppets must end the attacks on Zondo.

Cope supports Zondo that there was no more time for postponements.
“Zuma is not above the law. We support Zondo by asking Zuma to appear to testify and not wasting time. “
Bloem sees the foundation’s statements as justification for the former president’s repeated lack of response to the investigation’s questions.
