DURBAN – The case against former President Jacob Zuma and the French arms company Thales has been postponed until February 23, 2021.

Zuma and Thales face charges of corruption, organized crime and money laundering linked to the arms business.

The postponement follows a request by Thales for the racketeering charges against him to be dropped.

Pietermaritzburg High Court Judge Nompumelelo Radebe said the postponement would also allow for issues such as clarity on international travel, as some witnesses to the matter would have to travel from abroad.

Natasha Ramkisson-Kara from the NPA said: “This was for the resolution of pre-trial issues, that is, the ruling on Thales’ request for review of the organized crime charges, as well as the ruling on travel, especially the international travel under the situation of COVID-19. ”
