JOHANNESBURG – The chairman of the state capture commission, Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo, said on Monday that he will hear a request for an order authorizing the issuance of a subpoena for former President Jacob Zuma to appear from November 16 to 20. .

That request was submitted by the commission’s legal team.

Zondo said that Zuma’s main reason for not showing up as expected this week was that he was preparing for his trial.

He has confirmed that Zuma’s lawyers wrote to notify him that he would not appear and also said that due to his age his doctors had advised him to limit his movements.

The vice president of the Supreme Court said he did not want to comment on Zuma’s reasons, but the commission would not accept his lawyer’s request to negotiate other dates.
