JOHANNESBURG – Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo rejected Mosebenzi Zwane’s request that the commission ask him about all the cases in which he is involved in a session.
Zwane will appear on the state capture commission Friday morning.
Among the accusations is that he devised a fraudulent prepayment plan for a R1 billion low-cost housing project.
It has confirmed that the funds were allocated and controlled under the Revenue Division Act.
Zondo explained his decision to reject Zwane’s request: “Most of the time it is not practical, because when it comes to people like you, your name is mentioned in different commission workflows and there are different teams working on different workflows. So I just want you to know that I am aware that you made that request and that it was considered, but there are challenges. “
‘OPEN BIDDING PROCESS NOT ABANDONED BY ME’
Zwane denied that the open bidding process for the R1 billion housing project was abandoned because of him.
Officials have told the commission that it handled acquisitions and people, but said that HOD Mpho Mokoena and CFO Seipati Dlamini were in charge and told it the database met the requirements.
He said that he knew nothing of the disqualified providers: “The process was not abandoned by me, it was abandoned for the reasons that these officials have put here, which were not controlled by me.”
