JOHANNESBURG – Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo said he would postpone evidence from former Free State MEC Mosebenzi Zwane, who was expected to return to the state capture investigation on Tuesday.
Zwane has yet to confirm or deny that he personally came up with a plan that paid 600 million rand to the suppliers of building materials before any work was actually done.
The testimony relates to part of a R1.4 billion low-cost housing project in the Free State.
The former MEC first appeared last week and told the commission that he did not know there was a housing law when the funds were allocated to the province.
And the commission agreed with his lawyers that he would return, but that has now changed.
“We will formally defer Mr. Zwane’s evidence to a specific stage and I will hear Mr. Sodi’s evidence on the asbestos issue.”
