JOHANNESBURG – KwaZulu-Natal Prime Minister Sihle Zikalala has criticized allegations linking the late Vice President Mluleki Ndobe to the death of the former secretary general of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL), Sindiso Magaqa.

Ndobe was buried on Saturday at an official category two provincial funeral at his ancestral home in Umzimkhulu.

Affectionately known by his nickname, ‘The Black Mamba’ Ndobe, who had battled cancer for almost two years, died last week in an alleged suicide.

Several delegates, including the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, the Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize, the ANC member NEC Zizi Kodwa, and leaders of opposition parties in the province were among the attendees.

Ndobe has been hailed as a dedicated and disciplined cadre.

However, his legacy has failed to escape accusations linking it to the Magaqa murder.

But Zikalala criticized this.

While delivering the eulogy of the late vice president, Zikalala called for unity within the ANC.

“Ndobe himself also went through a very difficult time as leader of the ANC, including being arrested on charges that have tarnished his own reputation.”

Zikalala warned that increasing divisions within the party were undermining the movement and her mandate towards her supporters.
