Sanele Nohamba was the big winner in the Springboks’ showdown at the weekend, after his outstanding performance earned the praise of many, including captain Siya Kolisi.
The 21-year-old Sharks scrum-half showed his talents and was part of the winning team, Team Green, at the Castle Lager Springbok Showdown on Saturday in Newlands, Cape Town. The green team beat the gold team 25-9.
According to Springbok Gold coach Deon Davids, the game aimed to showcase talent, develop experience and share information between older and younger players.
Nohamba, who wore jersey number nine, was the talk of social media after impressing the country.
TimesLIVE reported that Kolisi said he liked that Nohamba was not afraid to take control.
“It was really good,” said Springbok captain Siya Kolisi. “She’s got a lot of energy and one thing I like about her is she’s not afraid to chat and take control. Before going out to the field, I told him that I didn’t want him to keep quiet when it mattered most. “
