Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass PC subscription plans will include an EA Play membership starting later this year.
This was announced on the official Xbox Twitter accounts of various countries on Wednesday, including Xbox South Africa.

Xbox Game Pass gives Xbox console and PC owners access to a library of more than 100 titles from Microsoft game studios and other developers.
Xbox Game Pass for PC allows members to play these games on a Windows PC at R49 per month, while Xbox Game Pass Ultimate provides access on both PC and console, plus special in-game content and partner offers, at R149 per month.
EA Play is Electronic Arts’ subscription-based gaming service, which has replaced their previous Origin Access and EA Access plans.
Provides access to the publisher’s own library, including titles from the Battlefield, Star Wars: Battlefront, Mass Effect, Sims, FIFA, and Madden NFL franchises.
There are two EA Play plans available, priced at the following:
- EA Play – R48.50 per month or R299 per year.
- EA Play Pro – R199.95 per month or R1,199.95 per year.
Only EA Play Pro includes the latest releases from Electronic Arts, plus unlimited early access to select titles before their official release, as well as exclusive game content.
Xbox Game Pass price increase for PC
Although Microsoft stated that EA Play would be included at no additional cost, it should be noted that the Xbox Game Pass subscription for PC will increase from next month.
According to the service Twitter account, the US price of $ 4.99 per month will more than double to $ 9.99 as of September 17.
This price hike would effectively explain the inclusion of EA Play, which in turn costs $ 4.99 per month in the US.
Enrollments after September 17 will be charged the new price, while current members will continue to be charged the introductory price for the next billing cycle.
Microsoft advised members to watch for a notification on September 17 for more details, which should be when the new South African prices are revealed.
