VINCE McMAHON claims Brock Lesnar is the reason for the dramatic drop in WWE Raw rankings.
Viewing figures released Thursday showed a 16 percent drop for one of WWE’s iconic shows.
And the company boss believes that not having Lesnar, who lost to Brit Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36, on Raw has been critical.
Speaking about the numbers during an investor call, McMahon said: “We no longer have Brock Lesnar, but we have a new champion and many new artists. That is the reason.”
“[Raw] has suffered, but not necessarily for the environment. It suffers because we bring many new talents and it takes time to overcome them.
“How do you use those artists in this story or in that story. I am convinced that Raw’s ratings will rebound considerably.”
McMahon was also quick to point out that “there has been virtually no change” for SmackDown.
The drop in ratings is the latest in a series of bad news for WWE chief McMahon.
The company’s CEO made headlines after he launched a host of fighters and personnel behind the scenes amid the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis.
And then it was revealed that he faces a legal battle related to his XFL football business with being sued for wrongful termination.
Former XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck filed the federal lawsuit in Connecticut last week.
McMahon’s sports league collapsed earlier this month after suspending operations and laying off personnel amid the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
However, Luck claims he was unfairly fired on April 9, the day before XFL officially closed his door.
To make matters worse, after the news of the legal case, it was reported that McMahon’s bad mood “has become a joke and a source of laughter” inside the WWE locker room.
A PW Insider report says McMahon became a “grumpy SOB” after XFL filed for bankruptcy, and sources within the company told them they were trying to stay away from the billionaire for as long as possible.
One even claimed that they would “get out and sit in their car or take the widest possible road” to avoid McMahon.
And his report went on to state that his gasps were “a common joke within the company.”
