After the Gunners easily beat Chelsea at the weekend, Arsenal fans should feel pretty confident heading to the South Coast to face Brighton tonight.
Brighton, however, is just four points behind us on the table, and considering they haven’t won a home game since June, that’s nothing short of surprising.
In fact, they have only won one of their last 14 matches in all competitions, so they are arguably in worse shape than Arsenal, who have won two of their last 11 league matches. Interestingly, Arsenal have only managed two draws in that time.
On the contrary, although Brighton have gained points with 7 draws in their last 11 league games, including the last 3 in a row, so although they have not won, they are not easy to beat either.
Another staggering statistic is that Arsenal have not beaten Brighton in our last 5 meetings.
Michael Owen believes that the tie is the most likely outcome again today. “Both sides could use a victory,” it was reported in the Brighton Independent.
“We all know about Arsenal’s problems, but Brighton is not doing much better.
“Las Gaviotas have slipped down the league standings and despite looking good at times, there have been too many lapses.
“Even though both teams are out of shape, I think both coaches are going to love winning this. That said, it is difficult to defend either party and I would not be at all surprised if it all ended well. “
But how would Arsenal fans feel if we only came away with one point? Is it anything less than an acceptable victory right now?
