JOHANNESBURG – Self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary will have to spend another night behind bars before the verdict on their bail application is rendered.

The couple and three other people face fraud and money laundering charges totaling more than R102 million.

All five have been behind bars for nearly two weeks as their extensive bail request continues, with surprising revelations about the validity of their passports and apparent diplomacy in court.

The couple’s attorneys have argued that the Bushiris had attended their first fraud and corruption trial that is currently ongoing and wonder why the couple would flee now.
