- The three brothers were later arrested in the early hours of Thursday by the police and appeared in court.

A Port Elizabeth man was assaulted and allegedly robbed by his wife, two brothers and two strangers at their home Wednesday night.
The three brothers were subsequently arrested in the early hours of Thursday by police. Police spokeswoman Gerda Swart said a case of assault was opened with the intent to cause serious bodily harm.
“All three were released with a warning. The case was suspended until February 2021.”
The attack took place when the 36-year-old victim was sleeping at her NU29 home in the Lingelethu informal settlement of Motherwell at 9:55 p.m.
Swart said the defendants were arrested by the K9 police unit at 02:00 a.m. on Thursday.

“It is alleged that at approximately 9:55 p.m. last night, Wednesday, December 30, the 36-year-old complainant was awakened by barking dogs. While on his way to investigate, two men kicked the door of his home in Lingelethu Informal, open area.
“The author was allegedly assaulted by his wife, 28, his two brothers, 19 and 20, and two other unknown men. A suspect pointed a firearm at the victim and threatened to shoot him. The suspects continued to attack him. the perpetrator, but then for a time the suspects left with a laptop and other property, “Swart said.
She said Motherwell police were notified of the incident and around 02:00 this morning, members of the Port Elizabeth K9 Unit followed up on the information and the three suspects were arrested at a home on Vinjwa Street.
She said the stolen property was recovered. Swart said the search for the two unknown suspects continues and that more arrests are imminent.
