In a voice memo to members, Duarte said that a member of her office staff made a mistake by identifying her as a general secretary and not as a deputy.
“Good morning colleagues, I send you a note that is a bit personal and very hurtful,” said Duarte.
“Yesterday a member of my office staff sent a letter regarding the December 15 membership deadline, which is a decision of the national work committee.
“Without realizing it, at the bottom he signed the letter as Jessie Duarte, general secretary. Now some of you comrades are sending WhatsApp messages in your chat groups saying that I have anointed myself as secretary general and put in place a plan and a conspiracy to eliminate Ace Magashule.
“In the first place, I would never misrepresent myself in this way.”
Duarte He said the letter had been withdrawn and the staff member had apologized for the mistake. She She expressed concern that despite the withdrawal, some ANC members continued with what she called mischief and obstacles.
“I ask you to stop this, I ask you to understand that this was a genuine mistake on the part of a member of staff, who has apologized,” he said.
“It was not calculated, as some suggest. That is very insidious, please my comrades, could you please stop this now? Do you think we have to unite the ANC?
