- The real life documentary and Netflix hit My octopus teacher has inspired a parody.
- My kreepy master tells the story of a Cape Town man who befriends an automatic pool cleaner.
- The parody has quickly gone viral prompting both views and tears of laughter.
The crystal clear waters of the pool somewhere in a Capeton suburb do not hide secrets or magical wonders. There is nothing else to the icy blue water except for the rhythmic sizzle of plastic Kreepy Krauly obediently doing its job.
When the South African comedian, actor and director Glen Biderman-Pam decided to parody the critically acclaimed Netflix documentary My octopus teacher, he could never have imagined the overwhelming blow that would turn almost overnight.
The moving original documentary, which tells the story of filmmaker Craig Foster’s unique bond with an octopus in the Atlantic Ocean, is garnering international acclaim while Glen’s parody is rapidly rising to fame on Twitter.
My kreepy master is a South African parody at its finest, as the comedian creates an accurate retelling of the octopus story, but giving the initiative to a local aquatic icon: the Kreepy Krauly. The viral short film will make you cry (laughing).
SA viewers will recognize Glen for his successful role as real estate agent Rael in the hit local mockumentary, Tali’s Wedding Diary.
According to Mike sharman, founder of Retroviral, the hilarious parody had received more than 200,000 views as of Sunday night in just ten hours. “Very proud of our collaboration with Glen Biderman-Pam,” he tweeted.
Adding: “It started as a WhatsApp brainstorming session that was exchanged between Glen Biderman-Pam on Thursday, the client gave the green light on Friday, spiked on Saturday, and was posted yesterday.[sic]”
