WhatsApp adds a new range of “social distancing” stickers

The adorable little images represent exactly what you think they do, specifically actions and times past that can significantly reduce the spread of COVID-19. That emoji hand placed next to a tap with running water just not cutting anymore? Don’t stress, there is a sticker for that now.

WhatsApp stickers seem to have really caught on at the last minute. If emojis have taught us anything, it’s that people prefer to communicate through adorable little pictures than words. Without our judgment, God knows that we have sent many WhatsApp stickers in the past. We like to use the Twitch gestures as our stickers, but frankly, during a global pandemic, those aren’t going to cut. Therefore, WhatsApp has now released a set of “together at home” stickers to promote self-isolation and social distancing.

The stickers, available in 10 different languages, were developed in conjunction with the World Health Organization. They represent everything from working at home, washing your hands, and controlling your friends who may be having a more difficult time than you.

This comes right after Instagram released a very successful “Stay Home” sticker to further promote social estrangement. WhatsApp has been making many additions and improvements due to the increase in users who rely on the platform to communicate properly during quarantine. Just yesterday we reported that WhatsApp was looking to expand video calls to serve eight people instead of the current four. It is not yet known when this new set of stickers will arrive in the application, but we bet on our background and that they will be here soon.
